Daniel-7-2-4To better unravel the last blog about the warming War World III in today’s world, a look at Daniel’s prophecy in Chapter Seven is necessary: In verse 2 – 4, Daniel writes:  “Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

“The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.”

All ancient iconography depicts Babylon as a lion with eagle’s wings on its back.  Realize that when Daniel saw this vision and wrote this prophecy Judah– the two tribes left of Israel, and those who had remained somewhat loyal to God–was actually enslaved in Babylon.

Daniel’s prophecies and the Old Testament books of Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther were written by Jews living in Babylon or trying to lead those willing to leave with permission of Babylon’s king in order to rebuild and live in a re-built Jerusalem.

It is urgently important that Christian’s today recognize that the historical Babylon is today’s Iraq! Daniel continues in verse 5: “And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.”  That bear represents the combined nation of the Medes and Persians. Those historically combined nations today make up the nation of Iran.

Daniel’s next verse is even more riveting: “After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.”

Even the most secular historians recognize that this beast is none other than Greece.  That swift leopard with wings is The Greek emperor Alexander the Great who swept through most of the ancient world before dying as a very young man. The four wings represent the four nations ruled over by his generals after his death: Syria, Greece, Egypt and Turkey! Hopefully readers recognize these nations as part of today’s warring factions!

Historically, only one kingdom would rule after Alexander’s and that is The Roman Empire which ruled in beast-10-hornsthe days of The New Testament and which Daniel foresaw in verse 7 – 9: “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

“I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

“I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.”

The beast with 10 horns is the equivalent of what will be left of the European Union and the horn with the eyes of a man speaking unbelievable lies is the anti-Christ, and, of course that Great Ancient of Days is The Precious Lord Jesus Christ who, with His followers, will defeat the anti-Christ and his followers.

For those faithful believers who have clung to God The Father and God The Son based on the promises of Their Holy Word, Daniel’s chapter 7 also has great prophecies:

“But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever (7: 18).” . . . “I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.”

Then Daniel adds in wholesale Christian Bibles: “And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him (7: 27).”

So take heart believers, soon some of us will rule over those nations raising havoc today—even over those who want us to believe today they are unstoppable! For tomorrow Jesus comes!
