Sometimes Two and Two Cannot Equal Four

Using at least three supportive Bible verses, relate one or more of the following “classic” Hollywood films, to the life, death and resurrection of The LORD Jesus Christ, as well as to your life as a Christian:“Shane” “Gunfight at the OK Corral”

“The Jackie Robinson Story” “Cleopatra”

“A Streetcar Named Desire” “The Godfather”

“Field of Dreams” “Clear and Present Danger”

“Rocky” “To Hell and Back”

“Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity (Ecclesiastes 12: 8).”

“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all (Isaiah 53: 6).”

“Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of? (Isaiah 2: 22)”

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever (1 John 2: 15 – 17).”

“Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.

“And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved (Mark 13: 12 – 13).”

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses (2 Timothy 6: 12).”

“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother (Proverbs 18: 24).”

But then, no earthly man-made movie can be equated to Judas’ betrayal of The LORD Jesus Christ. In order to cover up for his sin of stealing money that Jesus assigned him to take to the poor–“For the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10)–that most evil disciple had not only aligned himself with Satan: the ultimate fallen arch-angel, who had not only betrayed The Most Holy Trinity, God, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, but had convinced one-third of the angelic host to rebel with him.

For thirty pieces of lousy silver, Judas turned his back on His Savior, on three years of blessings from God’s Holy Spirit, and on his fellowship with the other disciples and followers of Christ. He lied to The LORD Jesus, and brought the enemies of Christ to His secret hiding place, making sure that he pointed Him out to the enemies. Such is why all of Judas’ family line is condemned to hell forever.

No, the Christian life is not a movie. How many Judas’ now sit in church pews, seeking other men’s husbands and wives, stealing from offerings, and pretending to be Christians for earthly gains. Such confessing, but phony believers, are heading to Judas’ resting place to burn with him forever.

And No. This is Not A Movie! It is the eternal realities of those who claim to be Christians but are not!
