‘And There Shall Be Signs:’ Coming Lawlessness in America?

The next day after a rebellious teen in New Mexico killed his parents and three siblings because he was upset with his mother, more people were shot in Houston, Texas.  Reuters points to three more shootings at schools this month.

An argument between two students at Lone Star College near Houston, Texas, left three people in the hospital with gun shot wounds and one in critical condition.  A fourth person was also hospitalized, but not from the shooting.

For the additional shootings, Reuters stresses:  “On January 10, a student armed with a shotgun critically wounded a fellow student at a high school in Taft, California, about 30 miles southwest of Bakersfield.  On January 15, a student armed with a pistol opened fire at Stevens Institute of Business & Arts in St. Louis, shooting a school employee and then turning the gun on himself.

“Also on January 15, two people were killed and a third wounded when gunfire broke out in the parking lot of a community college in eastern Kentucky. Authorities said that shooting was a result of a domestic conflict.”

For an official update on Nehemiah Griego, the young New Mexico killer, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s office in Albuquerque says the boy also thought about killing his girl friend’s parents as he sat with them in their house.

With no sense of guilt, the boy had already texted a picture of his murdered mother to the girl friend.  And police are considering whether or not she should be charged with failure to report a crime.  Nehemiah has been arraigned in adult criminal court on charges of murder and child abuse.

Associated Press reporter, Susan Montoya Bryan, explains that before joining the volunteer staff at Calvary Church, Nehemiah’s father, Greg Griego, had been a gang-member with “an extensive arrest record from his gang days.”

Even with such upheavals across the nation, Gun Owners of America (GOA)––a competitive gun group, even more radical than the National Rifle Association––calls for more guns throughout the land.

GOA Executive Director, Larry Pratt, told the media recently that the best way to protect people from mass shootings is to make sure more guns are available in more places.  “Gun-free zones are like magnets for the monsters in our society.”
Pratt argues that the Newtown massacre occurred because “no adult had a gun at the Newtown school where the children were murdered.”

What certain NRA and GOA members call for is lawlessness: Old West guns blazing, gun lovers against legal authorities, against order in a peaceful society, just as described in antichrist fictional books pre 1990.  Apostle Paul warns: “Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers (1 Timothy 1: 9).”
