As Worlds Falls Apart: God Still Blesses America, July 4, 2013

People-protesting-streets    Let’s see, at last count fed-up folks are protesting in Egypt, Turkey, Brazil and Bulgaria.  Their still fighting a Sunni-Shiite war in Syria with Russia, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc.and the U.S. somewhat joining in.  Oh yes, and most of Europe is in dire recession/depression with 12.5% unemployment.

The African continent still suffers wars, disease and famine. Some 260,000 people starved to death in Somalia since 2010, and the U.N. still can’t figure out how to get food there.  And all of North Africa is poised to join the Middle East.

In Asia, China fights to prove it is equal to the United States when it is not, and never can be.  And that nation still ships bad food and worse disease––i.e. H7N9 Swine Flu, and other sicknesses––to this country and around the world.

Japan still seeps radio-active water into the world’s oceans, even as it plans to re-open other nuclear power plants.  Of course, South Korea wishes it could move at least a continent away from bad-boy North Korea.

After gruesome deaths in war, and our united disgust with wars, our nation is trying to pull out of Afghanistan.  But a few politicians insists that we join other ‘fearless fools,’ and jump into Syria’s 100,000+ dead civil war conflict.

The Eastern shores are not recovered from Hurricane Sandy, the Western U.S. is baking in 115 degrees temperatures, drought extends itself in that region, and mid-western states like Wisconsin quietly suffer flooding.  Alaska basks in unaccustomed heat, as the shores of Hawaii slip measurably into its Pacific Ocean.

Quietly bubbling beneath its surface, America is losing her spiritual center.  She is spoiled, sullen and discontented.  Statue-of-LibertyProsperity flows mostly to the upper 10 percent or so.  The national suicide rate is soaring because people have lost hope.

We no longer focus on what is important to ourselves and to each other.  The airways are full of political hatred and distain.  But why?  Our unemployment rate is relatively low.  We don’t have pandemic diseases across the land––as yet. And even with outrageous flows of semi-automatic rifles from NRA gun makers, army tanks do not hold angry mobs off in our streets––as yet.

But most Americans sense something is wrong.  Yes, its Global Warming, but its more than that.  Time is moving fast.  Things seem to be whirling out of hand.  What was once economically easy, has become struggling drudgery.

What’s missing in our land as we celebrate this year’s 4th of July?  It is God, and our reverence for Him, our faith and belief in Him, and our disregard for what He considers to be sin, covetousness, and sensuality, materialistic life-styles.

Indeed God has blessed America over these almost 300 years.  As long as we were faithful to Him, He has been faithful to us.  As Bible inspired writing advises in 2 Chronicles 7: 14:

“If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”  Trusting that humbling will begin in the Body of Christ, we write again this year, God Bless America!
